Traveling Mountain Roads
First, be sure that your vehicle is ready for the mountain drive. Check your brakes, windshield wipers, defroster, heater and exhaust systems. Before you hit the road be sure you have a full tank of gas, and that your tires have good tread and are properly inflated. If you will be traveling during possible winter conditions it is a good idea to carry chains, an ice scraper, a small broom for sweeping snow off of your car, and a hand shovel in case you need to dig out.Second, pack extra water, snacks, warm blankets, flash lights and first aid supplies for your drive as well as your stay at Inn at SilverCreek. Weather conditions change quickly in the mountains and can cause unexpected power outages and other natural misadventures. Being prepared will help make your vacation in the mountains more enjoyable.
Third, in the event that weather conditions deteriorate into fog, rain, wind or snow during your drive, slow down, be more observant and be courteous on the road. If other drivers are in a hurry, use turn-outs when it’s safe to do so. In the event that you become stranded on the side of the road, stay with your car. Remember that a vehicle is more visible than a pedestrian.
